The science of weather is an engaging and relevant context for learning about how weather shapes our world. Our daily lives are intimately affected by weather and from time to time we experience or hear about large-scale catastrophes. As a springboard for studies in Earth Science the resource provides an excellent basis for understanding some of the events that shape our physical world - from rain, hail and snow, to glaciers, rivers and clouds.
Explanations are reinforced with activities designed to enable students to "see" processes in nature that are not usually apparent, to help their understanding. The activities cater to a range of learner needs and in most cases there is an opportunity for extended experimentation and research to encourage more able students to explore the topic at depth. The activities use a range of everyday objects as well as cost-effective specialized technical equipment for use in multiple experiments.
