The Big Book Workbook is a two book ready-to-use photocopiable series which has been developed to support the teaching of shared reading. Lesson plans and activities are provided for all big books.
The lessons are sequential:
Session 1 - focuses on activating prior knowledge, making connections and asking questions.
Sessions 2/3 - focus more on phonemic awareness, letter sounds, word families, word endings and the structure of language.
Session 4 - encourages the children to think critically and respond to the text.
